CURRICULUM VITAE

Jacob Sauermilch grew up in Erfurt, Germany, a sweet middle-age town in former GDR. Following his graduation from high school in 2013, where he specialized in design and photography, he worked as a graphic designer for a few years. During this time he found his way into the film industry, working in various positions in the lighting and camera department on feature films and commercials.

Working on his own audio visual projects lead him to study Cinematography at the Filmuniversity Babelsberg „Konrad Wolf“.Already in his first year, he started working as a gaffer on commercials for Converse, Jägermeister and HP for well known production companys.

Nowadays he is based in Berlin, working internationally as a DOP on fictional or non-fictional movies, as well as commercials and music videos. As part of his work for the commercial and music video world, Jacob worked for brands like Nike, Timberland and Netflix.

Films he shot were selected to numerous film festivals worldwide. Recently, one of his works won the Sundance Jury‘s Best International Short Fiction Award, and the Berlinale Special Jury Mention in Perspektive Deutsches Kino.
